I am Dario Vasquez, President of DRV Institute of Management and a Certified ServSafe Instructor and Registered ServSafe Examination Proctor by the National Restaurant Association. I am a business expert with theoretical and practical experiences in business and academia. I am a business & academic consultant where I consult with small and large business establishments as well as academic institutions. I believe education is the light that shines a person’s life. I have a passion for education and like helping people (students, employees) by sharing my academia as well as industry expertise. I teach hospitality and management courses at two universities. Courses taught: Customer Service, Resort Management, Event Meeting & Conference Management, Restaurant Management, Tourism, Supervision in hospitality, and Non-Profit Agency Management. My international experiences include Argentina, the Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, France, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, and Uruguay. I believe online education is the way to go as a result of globalization and technological growth. Currently, I serve as the Journal Manager of the International Journal of Management, Economics, and Social Sciences. I dream about, education, talk about education, search about education, and write about education. I am author of a book titled “Managing Customer Service: A Practical Guide to Thrive” and several peer-reviewed articles. I bring a combination of academic and business experience to engage learners in a collaborative learning environment. Prior to entering the academic field, Dario spent over 17 years in the hospitality industry including the hotel, cruise, and restaurant sector. I have trained employees, business owners, and managers in areas like: customer service, customer retention, food safety and sanitation at food establishments, safety at the workplace, effective leadership, management, employee relations and retention, effective teaching, and the importance of embracing diversity in today’s global environment.
My educational background is as follows: a doctorate in management, a master of business administration in leadership for managers, and a bachelor of science in hospitality management. I have received Faculty of the Quarter Awards at the higher education level and Employee of the Month at the hospitality-hotel level. I have also been awarded several scholarships for Outstanding and Meritorious Academic Achievements. I am a member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Global Trade Chamber, Academy of Management, Sigma Beta Delta, and The Hospitality Industry Network (NEWH).
